Information for reviewers
The intent of EBSJ is to provide the highest quality research and evidence on spine care topics. Therefore, all research manuscripts will undergo a detailed set of peer-reviews by dedicated individuals who are well-versed in study methodology and implementation as well as clinical subject matter. Original clinical research submitted to EBSJ will undergo two distinct types of reviews, a methodological review performed by a PhD-level scientist (eg, epidemiologist, health services researcher) and one or more clinical peer reviews performed by a physician, surgeon or other appropriate medical personnel with subject-matter expertise.

The purpose of the clinical review is to determine if the manuscript meets specific clinical criteria to be published in EBSJ and if so, to recommend areas where the author can improve the manuscript. This will be accomplished by an objective and prompt evaluation of the research from a clinical perspective. For detailed information about the clinical review please refer to the guidelines for clinical reviewers.

The mission of EBSJ is to discover, interpret and develop the highest quality evidence related to spine care. It features the latest advances and most prominent research using an evidence-based approach. The format is unique and intended to provide a concise display of the primary evidence “at a glance” to facilitate rapid evaluation of the important results and conclusions.
